Balance is an exploration of scale, being my largest sculpture yet. Balance has 5 glass components, the two larger ones being over 50 pounds. The sculpture is inspired by contemplation, an earlier work using similar proportions. The steel component comes from a large industrial spool found in a local scrap yard in New Orleans. The name comes from the necessity to have all the components installed on the sculpture; otherwise, it will not stand. But also a commentary on the need for balance, art being the balancing factor in the artist’s life.
